Ventura City Council meets at 7:00 PM each Monday for the first four Mondays each month. The City Council meets the first week in August and will not reconvene until the first Monday after Labor Day weekend.
Meetings are held in Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall at 501 Poli Street. All meetings (with certain exceptions) are open to the public.
City Council members are elected to four year terms in a city-wide election. The Council elects from its members a Mayor and Deputy Mayor, each of whom serves two years.

The Board of Supervisors is the governing body of the county. The Board has five members, each elected from one of the five supervisorial districts in the county for a term of office of four years. The Board acts primarily in a legislative capacity since it adopts all county ordinances. It can also grant or deny claims made against the county and supervise policies and operations of the county.
The Board controls the county budget, levies taxes, makes appropriations and supervises the official conduct of county officers. The Board of Supervisors meets every Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. in the Board hearing Room, Administration Building, 800 S. Victoria Ave. Ventura, CA. |
